Suzuki Sting Ensemble at King’s-Edgehill

The King’s-Edgehill School will present a choir, musical theatre, dance and art event, Friday, April 16 at 7 p.m. featuring the Nova Scotia Suzuki Sting Ensemble. Tickets are $5 and available at the door For more information call 798-2278

 

The Aristocats steal the stage

Brooklyn District Players presents The Aristocats on April 14, 15 and 16 at the Brooklyn District Elementary School.

World-class illusion show brings magic to the MIPAC Stage

On Saturday, April 17 at 7 p.m. the Mermaid Imperial Performing Arts Centre in Windsor will present OUTERBRIDGE - a world-class illusion show. Ted Outerbridge and his wife Marion have performed their show all over Canada and Europe. The performance will amaze and delight children five and up and their families. The performance will include sleight of hand, levitation and a mind-reading chicken named Zelda. For tickets and information call Moe’s Place Music Sales at 798-5565. Tickets are $19 ($16 for students, children, and seniors).  Group rates are available.

 

Variety show

The Forties Community Center will host a variety show Sunday, April 11 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.  The show will feature Ernie Rafuse and friends, Jeff Wentzell and family, South Wind, Roger and Sheila Bolivar and Friends, Matt Lunn and Graham Morehead and Friends. Little Shop of Horrors at the Al Whittle

Don’t miss Edalene Theater's production of Little Shop of Horrors. Directed by Kerri Leier, this is a story about a down-and-out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight success when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore that offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite. With Melissa Vidito’s musical directing of the Alan Menken score and Tracy Fritz Nasson's choreography, you'll never look at your houseplants the same way again. Show takes place, Wednesday, April 7 from 7:30-10 p.m. Tickets available at Box of Delights in Wolfville or by calling 697-2515. Tickets are $10 for children under 16 and $12 for adults in advance. Acadia Centre for Performing Arts presents: Cinderalla

Get swept away by Ballet Jörgen Canada’s exhilarating interpretation of the classic tale, Cinderella. This enchanting ballet set to Prokofiev’s traditional score overflows with passion, wit and charm. Show time is Sunday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at Acadia University Centre for Performing Arts, Wolfville. CentreStage presents: The Mouse that Roared

When Gloriana XII of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick faces national bankruptcy, what else is there to do but declare war on the most powerful nation of the world? Worse though, what happens when they win? The Mouse that Roared is a hilarious story of longbows and arrows, Q-bombs, and mad professors who accidentally set the world on edge. The Mouse that Roared is a comedy adapted by Christopher Sergel and is suitable for youth aged 12 and up. (The play is not inappropriate for younger audiences as it may be of more interest to those with some understanding of government.) The Mouse that Roared is directed by Roger Prentice. It stars Margot Bishop, Gary Corbin, Brian Cottam, Glen Cottam, Rebecca Crouse, Darrell Doucette, Christine Enserink, David Gibson, Aaron Haggerty, LeRoy Heffernan, Mike Holland, Linda Kearley, Keegan Martin, Chloe Moore, Emily Oickle, Kelvin Ogilvie, Wendy Purkis, Wendy Robinson, Janet Westhaver and Nick Wojtas. Kelly Westhaver and Ellis Brian-Clayton are on lights, David Gibson and Mike Bond are stage crew and Tim Hawkins is the stage manager.

 

The show opens Thursday April 15 (pay what you can) and continues playing on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. until May 15. There will be a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, May 2. Sacred, Secular and Silly VI Concert

The Annapolis Valley Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) presents its annual concert of performances by singers and instrumentalists from the Annapolis Valley at Bridgetown Baptist Church, 7:30 pm. Members from Windsor to Digby will perform.

On Sunday, April 18 the (RCCO) will host a concert at the Manning Memorial Chapel at Acadia University, featuring Hants County musician Shawn Porter and the Mount Allison Early Music Ensemble. This will likely be Shawn's "swan song" in the area, as he graduates from Mount Allison this spring.  A free will offering will be taken for the Memorial Organ Scholarship Fund.
