The Nova Scotia Suzuki String Ensemble are joining King’s-Edgehill School students on Friday, April 16 at 7 p.m. in Windsor for an evening of music and dance. Admission is $5 per person and the event will be held in the Fountain Performing Arts Centre on the King’s-Edgehill School campus.
The event promises to be an evening of non-stop entertainment of song and dance with strings in the mix. From fun musical theater solos, and inspiring large choir songs, to the intense driving beat of Cape Breton fiddle and step dance, there won’t be a dull moment.
King’s-Edgehill School has a new string and dance program under the direction of Christy Hodder, Celtic recording artist/performer and director of the “Fiddlestickers”. Hodder has recently relocated the Nova Scotia Suzuki String group from Kentville to Windsor and is excited to invite new members to join from this part of the Valley.
The violin ensemble includes Cape Breton Fiddle as part of the Suzuki Group that meets monthly at King’s-Edgehill School with Hodder, and will be adding Cape Breton Step next year. The Suzuki kids range in age from 2 to 16 years and travel from Halifax to Greenwood to play in the group. The upcoming concert will appeal to the entire family and a small reception to meet the performers will be held afterwards with a viewing of the school’s IB art projects on display.
