Newly formed ETC Entertainment has more to offer the music scene than a great evening of entertainment. Band member David Howells says ETC is a new brand of band devoted to giving back to the community.
“What we want to do is identify ourselves as a musical group with charities and fundraisers so when we step out to play the audience knows we are working with and for community organizations.”
With the aid of local sponsors the ETC band plans host a series of concerts throughout the year in aid of local charities in Hants County and the Annapolis Valley. Each series will end with a gala event and cheque presentation to a feature organization.
Although still in it’s infancy Howell said the concept to create the brand is a win-win situation. “It’s a feel good message all the way around,” he said.
The corporate partners that help to underwrite the cost of an event get added recognition for their efforts. “They get to pitch the message that they support the charity.”
“Charity begins at home,” Howells said, “and we want to choose charities that are near and dear to our community.” Those homegrown local causes that sometimes get lost in the shuffle, he adds.
From County and Rock to Celtic harmonies the band will compliment any occasion and musical taste. “We want to vary the music and create something fun that will all guarantee we can raise funds. When people here the name ETC they will make that association with good times and a good message.”
Which in the end will raise more funds for worthy causes.
ETC features the talents of Reg Ivany on vocals and lead guitar. Ivany has opened shows for various bands including “The Mama and Papas”, and Alice Cooper. On guitar and background vocals is John Caldwell best known for local gospel and country music.
