The Avon Peninsula Watershed Preservation Society’s official response to CGC Inc.’s Focus Report is now available online, in hard copy at the Windsor Library and at the Department of Environment library on Terminal Road in Halifax.
In addition to the APWPS’ 128-page submission, there were 12 comments made by federal and provincial officials and 95 letters from members of the public. Of the letters from the public, 87 called for either a rejection or a more thorough environmental assessment of CGC Inc.’s proposal to expand their operations to include a third, new mine on the Avon Peninsula.
“We have both quantity and quality submissions in favour of what our community has been saying for nearly four years,” APWPS President Raymond Parker said in a release last week.
A decision on the file was expected January 11, but last week the Hon. Sterling Belliveau chose to wait until February 5, citing the department needed more time to review comments made on CGC Inc.’s Focus Report, which was released in October.
