The tourism symposium for East Hants at the Milford Recreation Centre Feb. 12 marks the beginning of a new tourism strategy for East Hants.
Up to now “we have not done a good job linking all our attractions and presenting a comprehensive tourism product to the world,” says the East Hants Tourism Strategy. “We have not created an East Hants brand.” The document was written by J.D. MacCulloch, the municipality’s director of economic development.
The document envisions three new visitor information booths, the creation of an East Hants brand, a comprehensive visitor map, promotion of a Fundy Shore Drive and a vibrant new website as key ingredients in the new plan.
The visitor information centres will be placed at South Maitland, at Exit 8 on Highway 102 and at Exit 3 on Highway 101.
Main attractions in the municipality include tidal bore rafting, the improvements to the Fundy Shore Drive highways and a rich cultural heritage.
