Annual Bluegrass and Oldtime Music Festival

Hot & Cold Buffet Supper

August 15th, 2009 at the Four Points Rec Centre, Latties Broak. The time will be from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Prices are Adults $8.00 and Children $4.00. All proceeds go to the Rec Centre.

Benefit Day & Dance

Saturday, August 15, 2009. From 1-4pm there will be washer toss, BBQ, Silent Auction & Strawberry Shortcake. From 9pm-1am there will be a dance with live local bands. Location will be at the Lower Vaughans Fire Hall. All proceeds for the family of Paul Lawrence who was in a car accident.

Walton Country Dance

Saturday, Aug 15th, 2009, from 9pm -12:30am. Members and guests. Music by Country Express. 19 plus. Lunch. Sponsored by and proceeds to the Walton Shore Volunteer Fire Department

Blueberry Tea

Sunday, August 16 at the Shand House Museum in Windsor,from 2-4 pm. Help us celebrate blueberry harvest season in Nova Scotia. Tea and blueberry treats will be served, entertainment provided, and door prizes will be awarded. Cost is $6.00 per person, all ages welcome. Please pre-register by Sat. August 15. Sport-Fishing Lunenburg County

August 18th, 2009 from 7-9pm at the Forties Community Centre. There will be information on fish species, regulations, bag limits and fishing programs for families, youth and women. A presentation will be made by the Department of Fisheries.

Meet local Author

Thursday, August 20th, at the Windsor Public Library will be welcoming local author and illustrator, Peggy Kochanoff at 2:30- 3:30pm. She will be talking about her most recent children's book "You Can Be a Nature Detective" with the aid of spider webs, bird nests, and animal track photos. All are welcome but most suitable for children ages 8-12. Play Readings

Monthly play readings for the purpose of social exchange, and to identify scripts suitable for local production. Anyone may submit a script for consideration, as long as it is of a wholesome nature. The next reading will be held on Mon., Aug. 24th, 6:30-8:30 pm., downstairs at the Nazarene Church, 131 Wentworth Rd., Windsor. We will be reading, "Don't Kick the Turkeys", by Andy and Jennifer Hansen. It is a comedy with a cast of 4 men and 4 women. Afterward we will discuss the merits/challenges of this script. There will be light refreshments. We invite you to join us and give your input. Questions may be directed to - theatrebeyond@hotmail.com

Public Meeting

Thursday, August 27th, 2009. The time will be at 7:00pm. The West Hants Historical Society to introduce the partnership between the West Hants Historical Society and the Ste.-Famille Cemetery Preservation Society and to encourage interest in the Acadian story of the Pisiquid area. The meeting will be held at the Boardroom of the Enterprise Centre of Hants County in the Downtown Windsor Mall, 80 Water Street, Windsor. All interested persons are most cordially invited to attend.

Gospel Jamboree

August 29, 2009 at the Newport Baptist Church in Scotch Village. Music begins at 1:30pm and runs until 10:00pm. There will be a BBQ over the supper hour with steak, hamburgers, hot dogs and salads. Free will offering to be taken. Pop and ice cream on site for sale. Fireworks Finale. So bring a lawn chair and come fellowship with us.

CUTLINE: Windsor 5th Annual KOS Triathlon

Sunday, August 16th, 2009 at the Hants Aquatic Centre from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Join us for a day of food, refreshments, fun, participation, awards and exercise.
