The Enfield RCMP Detachment received 79 calls from Jan. 9 to Jan. 19, 2009. Investigations into a number of the occurrences are ongoing.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. Jan. 9, Enfield RCMP responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Elmsdale Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. After reviewing the video surveillance, the manager of the NSLC was able to identify a suspect. A 28-year-old male was subsequently arrested and charged with theft of property valued at less than $5,000.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. Jan. 10, Enfield RCMP responded to a 911 call in Enfield where a female reported that she was being assaulted. The ensuing investigation lead to the arrest of a male, who was subsequently remanded. The incident was believed to have been a case of domestic violence and not a random act.
Sometime between Jan. 7 and 11, several trailers were broken into at the Riverland Campground in Nine Mile River. Anyone who may have seen any suspicious vehicles or suspicious activity in this area is urged to contact Enfield RCMP.
At approximately 00:20 a.m. Jan. 12, Enfield RCMP were conducting a road check on Highway 2 in Lantz when officers noticed a vehicle turn around and avoid the checkpoint. The vehicle was subsequently intercepted and the male driver stated that he did not have any photo ID with him a this time, however he provided a name, date of birth and address. The investigation revealed that the male had provided a false name and was he was subsequently charged with adult impersonation with intent. As well, his vehicle was towed and he was issued a ticket for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license.
Enfield RCMP responded to a call of an abandon vehicle on Renfrew Road in Nine Mile River Jan. 14. The vehicle was partially in the ditch with the windows, mirrors, and lights smashed out. The investigation revealed that the truck had been stolen from a residence in Dartmouth the night before.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. Jan. 15, Enfield RCMP responded to a call of a robbery at the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission in Elmsdale. Employees advised that a male carrying a metal pipe had entered the store and proceeded to steal a bottle of rum. Moments prior to this, the same male had also allegedly stolen a pack of cigarettes from the Smoke Shop in Elmsdale.
A 36-year-old male was later arrested in the Fall River area as he was suspected of having committed another robbery at the Sobeys in that community. The suspect was remanded for a psychological assessment and is due to appear in court to answer to the charges Feb. 13.
At approximately 7 p.m. Jan. 15, Enfield RCMP responded to a break and entry into a residence in Upper Kennetcook. The incident occurred sometime between 3:30 and 7 p.m. Various items were stolen from the residence including jewelry and electronics.
At approximately 9 p.m. Jan. 16, detachment members responded to a call of a theft from a vehicle. The incident occurred at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz while the owner of the car was in the arena. The suspects smashed a window in the vehicle and stole a video camera.
Police remind motorists not to leave any valuables in their vehicles. Doing so creates a crime of opportunity.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. Jan. 17, a member observed a vehicle travelling northbound between Exits 7 and 8 on Highway 102. The vehicle was swerving slightly over the fog line on the right shoulder portion of the road. The vehicle was intercepted and the 51-year-old male driver was noted to be showing signs of intoxication. The suspect was arrested and failed the breathalyzer with readings almost twice the legal limit. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., Jan. 18, detachment members responded to a 911 call of an assault that occurred at a residence in Lantz. Statements were taken from several witnesses who reported that the suspects were armed. The suspects are known to police and investigation is still ongoing.
At approximately 3:55 a.m. that morning, members responded to an alarm at the Enfield ESSO. The property representative arrived on scene and noted that the front door had been smashed and it appeared to be a break and enter.
The investigation revealed that the suspects entered the building and stole an ATM machine with an undisclosed amount of cash inside.

Between Sunday, Jan. 11, and Sunday, Jan. 18 ,2009, Windsor Rural RCMP were kept busy, responding to 74 calls.
Among these calls, nine were dangerous driving complaints; 10 reports of traffic collisions, including one fatality; three reports of thefts of property valued at less than $5,000; calls; one complaint of criminal harassment; four calls involving suspicious persons; two animal-control related complaints; two reports of impaired driving; 10 calls for assistance; two calls concerning disturbances of the peace; one report of break, entry and theft at a residence; one call under the Coroners Act; two reports concerning cruelty to animals; one under the Firearms Act; one complaint under the Mental Health Act; and two calls concerning theft of motor vehicles.
In addition, members attended five false 911 calls, which in most instances were made by citizens trying to contact directory assistance. There were also 11 false calls concerning residences or businesses.

Sometime during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, a person or persons unknown stole a maroon 2005 three-quarter-ton Dodge truck with a sander/snow plow parked outside a residence at 333 Falmouth Back Road, Falmouth. The truck was later located at the carpool parking lot off of Exit 9, Avonport, but the red-coloured BOSS V- plow was stolen off the truck.
Sometime during the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 16, a person or persons unknown forcibly entered a residence at 696 Valley Road, West Gore, by prying/kicking in the front door of the residence. A 47-inch LCD TV, a Wii entertainment system and an unknown amount of cash were stolen from the residence. The police investigation is continuing.
Between Sunday, Jan. 11, and Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, Windsor Town RCMP responded to 38 calls.
Among these calls, two were in response to theft of property valued at les than $5,000 complaint, and a disturbance of the peace report.
Other incidents ranged from four calls concerning suspicious persons; one complaint of mischief, involving damage costing less than $5,000 to property; two reports for motor vehicle collisions; three complaints of assault; one request to locate a person; one complaint of break, entry and theft at a residence; one alleged failure to remain at an accident scene; one call under the Family Relations Act; two complaints of criminal harassment; one of breach of a court document; six false alarm reports; and one for false 911 calls.
Windsor Town RCMP are also continuing their investigations into a number of offences, and anyone with information on the person or persons responsible are asked to contact Windsor Town RCMP at 798-8366 or Crime Stoppers.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., Jan. 17, a silver Honda Civic struck a parked brown 2005 Kia Spectra in the parking lot of the A&W Restaurant, Wentworth Street, Windsor and left the scene of the accident.
Sometime between the night of Jan. 17 and the afternoon of Jan. 18, a person or persons unknown slashed four tires on a black 1999 Pontiac Sunfire parked at the Victoria Hotel, Water Street, Windsor.
