An old farmhouse in Centre Burlington is beyond repair following an afternoon fire.
The Red Bank Road home ignited around noon Nov. 30.
“It basically started in-around the chimney and extended into the structure,” Windsor Fire Chief Scott Burgess said in an interview.
Departments from Summerville, Brooklyn, Windsor, Hantsport, Mount Uniacke, Wolfville and Greenwich responded to calls for mutual aid as the high winds and water supply concerns made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the flames.
“The wind didn’t help and the water supply was quite a ways away,” Burgess noted.
He said the cooperation of several departments made it possible to prevent the blaze from spreading to buildings surrounding the house, but the roof and second floor of the home was destroyed.
“It’s probably beyond repair.”
No one was injured in the fire.
