During an Aug. 17 appearance in provincial court, Candace Lorraine Burgess of Ellershouse received jail time for a July 27 robbery at the Windsor Pharmasave.
Burgess was facing charges of robbing the pharmacy of dilaudid tablets while armed with an imitation handgun; using an imitation firearm while committing a robbery and possession of dilaudid for the purpose of trafficking.
She was handed a jail sentence of two years and six months in custody and one year of probation to be served following her sentence. A DNA order and a lifetime prohibition on restricted weapons was also ordered.
Police were called to a robbery in progress at the Windsor Pharmasave on the morning on July 27. The police cordoned off a portion of Gerrish Street during their investigation.
Two suspects were apprehended later in the day.
Aside from Burgess, also charged in connection to the robbery was Michael Flynn, 32. He is slated to appear in court on Sept. 14 for election and plea.
The pharmacy was open at the time of the robbery.
“It was a shock for sure, we’ve never had something like this happen before. It’s not typical of this area,” Pharmasave owner Jason Trider had said at the time.
Another person who witnessed the incident said it was very scary.
