WINDSOR — The young man accused of hitting a Mountie with his truck earlier this year and then breaching his release conditions, will return to court Jan. 13 to answer to the initial charges.

Cody Prudhomme shields his face as he exits the Hants County Courthouse in Windsor Oct. 7.

Cody Andrew Prudhomme, who was wearing an orange Aero 1987 surf T-shirt and jeans for his latest court appearance, was granted bail Dec. 15. The Crown prosecutor did not oppose bail.

Prudhomme was arrested in the fall on charges of assault with a weapon, failing to stop for police, resisting arrest and dangerous driving. He had been released from custody on those charges but was arrested in Metro on Oct. 30 for allegedly uttering threats. That charge violated his earlier Hants County release conditions and he was remanded back into custody.

His breach of conditions was deemed served by the time he spent in jail.

Prudhomme was released from custody at a scheduled bail hearing Dec. 15 at the Hants County Courthouse. Two $1,000 non-cash recognizance were required — one from Prudhomme and one from his uncle, Trevor Prudhomme.

Prudhomme must reside at a home on King Street in Windsor and abide by a daily curfew of 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Also included in his release conditions are an order to keep the peace and being of good behaviour, abstaining from alcohol and drugs, and avoiding weapons.

Prudhomme was initially arrested in September after a Windsor RCMP officer was struck with a black Dodge Dakota truck near the Ultramar gas station on Wentworth Road on Sept. 20. The suspect fled the scene, and after a subsequent chase by the police, the truck the suspect was travelling in on Highway 354 near the Bull Meadows shooting range in Upper Rawdon crashed into the woods.
