Town of Windsor Mayor Paul Beazley
WINDSOR — Mayor Paul Beazley announced his resignation from the Town of Windsor council late Friday afternoon.
Beazley will be taking a new full time position in Halifax that will require him stepping down from all council duties and responsibilities.
"It has been an honour and a privilege for me to serve the citizens of my hometown... the birthplace of hockey, and I will greatly miss the daily interactions with the people of the Avon Region,” said Beazley in a press release Feb. 26.
Beazley has served the town as its mayor for the last eight years. Prior to that, he served as a councillor from 2000-04.
He will also be stepping aside from his other responsibilities on the UNSM board of directors and the REN oversight committee.
He leaves at a time when the citizens of Windsor and West Hants have filed an application with the
Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board for amalgamation of the region — a goal that the press release notes has been Beazley’s driving passion for the past eight years.
More details to come.
