The Royals were quickly cooked in a game against the St. Margaret’s Bay Ducks Jan.16.
The Bay Ducks pummelled the Royals with a final score of 7-1, after they scored two goals in first period, three more in the second, and another two in the third.
The Royals succeeded in putting a forlorn hope puck past the Bay Ducks before the final minutes of the game but it just was not enough.
Coach Luke Young said the team had made some selfish plays and bad decisions, which lost the game for the Royals. “It’s been a bit of a long year… and the boys are frustrated.”
The team can’t afford to play as individuals and needs to start getting the puck deep into the offensive zone more often, Young said. “We were not offensively sound last night.”
It’s important for this team to stick to the game plan and play out a full 60-minute game, Young added. “When we can to do that, we’re a much better team…we’re all over them.”
The previous weekend, the Windsor Royals lost two games against the Brookfield Elks. The Royals suffered a 1-0 shutout during the Jan. 9 match, and they lost with a final score of 2-1 Jan. 10.
