Familiar with the workings of the Windsor Royals, Dan Boyd has been asked to man the helm while the club looks for a new president.

On Nov. 8, Boyd took on the role of interim president after the Royals learned president Garnett “Gun” Smith had to step down for personal reasons.

Boyd is no stranger to running the popular Junior B hockey club.

“I've been involved with the Royals since 2003-04 but I've been going to hockey games since I was six years old in Windsor,” said Boyd.

He also served on the former Windsor Senior Schooners executive.

Boyd held the volunteer role of president from the 2005-06 season until Smith took over in 2010-11.

He has been writing about Hants County sports, on and off, for nearly nine years for the Hants Journal.
