The senior boys hockey teams representing Avon View High School and King’s-Edgehill School went toe-to-toe Oct. 25 when they faced off in front of a sizeable crowd.
The Hants County rivals were evenly paced for the first period, with Jeremy Parker scoring for AVHS on the power play. Assists went to Carter Swain and Alex Savon.
King’s-Edgehill started off the second period strong, with Mark Pompei scoring within the first minute of being back on the ice. Isaac Bridge followed that up, shorthanded, putting KES up 2-1. Midway through the second period, Pompei struck again, this time short-handed. Assists for second period goals went to Patrick Bourgault (2), Bridge, Brett Bittner, and Michael Jachimowicz. Heading into the final frame, the score was 3-1.
KES finished the game by adding one more goal, this one from the stick of Bridge off of Bittner and Jabes Benedict.
In total, AVHS accumulated 20 penalty minutes while KES had 18.
Alex Williams took the loss for AVHS while Philippe Miller earned the win in nets for KES.
The crowd gathered at the Hants Exhibition Arena largely consisted of students, as they cheered and chanted for their respective schools.
