Big biathlon event held here

Saturday and Sunday at the recently completed 2011 Canada Winter Games biathlon facility at Ski Martock.

Roughly 55 competitors of all ages came from all over eastern Canada to the 2010 Eastern Canadian Biathlon Championships hosted at Ski Martock last weekend. This was the official biathlon test event for the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Biathlon is an exciting and challenging Olympic sport that combines cross country skiing and marksmanship. Biathlon Nova Scotia is raising the awareness of the sport in the province, and the addition of the new facility will ensure a vibrant program for its athletes in the years to come.
