WINDSOR, N.S. – With Mother's Day fast approaching, Windsor firefighters are hoping to help make finding the perfect gift a little easier.

The Windsor Fire Department has teamed up with Avon Valley Floral, a Falmouth-based floral wholesaler and greenhouse, to send out a bountiful bouquet just in time for the big day.

Firefighter Geordie Roberts, the chair of the Windsor Fire Department's ways and means committee, said the response to the fundraiser has been positive.

“We're looking at doing it as an annual event,” said Roberts while raising awareness of the fundraiser at Sobeys on April 15.

“A lot of people have really liked the idea.”

Each large bouquet costs $40 and will be delivered the day before Mother's Day to homes throughout Windsor or West Hants. Or, the floral arrangement can be picked up at the fire hall. Mother's Day is May 14. Orders must be placed by April 21.

Roberts said money raised will help support the local department.

For more information or to book flowers, visit the Windsor Fire Department's Facebook page, contact any member of the fire department, the veteran firefighters' group or the auxiliary, or contact Roberts at 902-791-1408.
