NEW MINAS - Movie buffs are in luck.

At 9:30 a.m. Oct. 14, Cineplex New Minas will be inviting the public to take part in a morning of free films as part of a nation-wide fundraising push in support of WE Charity.

Dubbed Cineplex Community Day, the movies are on the house and proceeds from select concession item sales will be donated to WE, an organization dedicated to creating positive and sustainable change in impoverished communities throughout the globe. The theatre will open at 9 a.m., and tickets are up for grabs on a first-come, first-served basis.

There will be a variety of free films for participants to choose from: Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls, Ice Age: Collision Course, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

“Guests can enjoy concessions like popcorn, soft drinks and select candy for just $2.50 each and, in exchange for a $2.00 donation, theatres will also be selling a fun variety of ME to WE Cineplex ‘Change Bracelets’ which feature motivational statements to inspire youth to create positive change,” a press release from Cineplex reads.

Several Cineplex employees volunteer their time for the annual Community Day events to show their support for WE Charity.
