The Hantsport Fire Department Association donated a Lifepak automated external defibrillator to the Hantsport Memorial Community Centre (HMCC) on May 16. On hand to receive the donation were HMCC board members.

While firefighters hope the life-saving device won’t be required, they say having one located at the popular Hantsport destination will be beneficial to the public. The purpose of an AED is to send an electric current to the heart when people are experiencing a sudden, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
