HANTSPORT, NS – The Hantsport Refugee Sponsorship Committee (HRSC) is holding its first big fundraiser on Sept. 30

The group of volunteers is holding harvest dinner and dance event at the Wolfville Farmers Market building.
The dinner will be a four-course meal featuring seasonal ingredients, cocktails and wine from local producers. The sponsors include TapRoot Farms, Oultons meat, Lightfoot and Wolfville, Barrelling Tide Distillery and Schoolhouse Brewery.
The dance will feature the Conqueroots, with Caleb Miles, Geoff Arsenault, Nic D'Amato and Jeff Hennessy.
Tickets are $100 for the dinner and dance (includes a $50 tax receipt) or $25 for the dance only. It begins at 9 p.m.
HRSC chairperson Kate Sircom says, the fundraising is getting underway now after a start-up in March.
“We are early in the journey,” she says. “We just feel that Hantsport would be an ideal community for a family. It's small, there's a school, grocery store, bank, dentist and doctor all within walking distance.”
Furthermore, Sircom adds, “the community members are incredibly supportive and generous.”
