ANNAPOLIS ROYAL, N.S. – The Tree Topper Rollercoaster at Upper Clements Park is open to visitors once again.

The rollercoaster has been closed since June following a stop work order that was put in place by Occupational Health and Safety.

The stop work order was not due to the rollercoaster itself, but rather the work environment for workers as maintenance was being carried out.

The order related to the safety mechanism that staff used to tie into with their safety harnesses along the top of the coaster when maintenance work was being carried out.

The rollercoaster opened on Sunday, Aug. 19.

The park posted on its Facebook page and website over the weekend that the Occupational Health and Safety officer had lifted the stop work order on the maintenance of the coaster.

“A new lifeline cable has been installed and approved for our maintenance staff to clip on to with the safety harnesses along the coaster,” read the park’s post. “Our maintenance staff has completed all maintenance as directed by the provincial inspector and we have been given approval to run the coaster. We are very sorry that you, our guests, have not been able to ride the coaster yet this season and are very pleased that once again this ride is back in operation.”

The Upper Clements Parks are open until Sunday, Sept. 2. Customer appreciation days are being held for the remainder of the season (they started Aug. 19 and run to Sept. 2) whereby visitors to the park will receive  20 per cent off the cost of bracelets for the Upper Clements Amusement Park and the Upper Clements Adventure Park.
