Wolfville man facing sex, unlawful confinement charges remains in custody

KENTVILLE, NS - A Wolfville man facing a variety of charges – including sexual assault, unlawful confinement, extortion and other counts – remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Tracey Donald Dodds, 60, was present in Kentville provincial court in custody on March 13. The Crown was opposed to his release. A publication ban was ordered to protect the identity of the alleged victim and Dodds was remanded in custody until March 15 for a bail hearing.

The Crown remained opposed to Dodds’ release at the March 15 hearing. The wording of some of the charges was amended. Dodds consented to being remanded in custody until March 20 for another bail hearing. He has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim while on remand.

Dodds is charged with assault; verbally conveying a death threat, sexual assault, unlawful confinement, inducing a woman by threats to submit to sexual acts, using threats of violence for the purpose of compelling the alleged victim to perform certain sexual acts and trafficking in hydromorphone.

It’s alleged that Dodds committed the offences in Wolfville between Feb. 13 and March 7, 2017. The charges have not been proven in court.
