LETTER: Exhibition is hard on the family’s wallet

None

My children get excited when the exhibition rolls into town and they love to go each year. As a parent who grew up in this area, I want to take the kids because I know how much I enjoyed going as a child. The exhibition is a tradition but one that may be cancelled in my family due to the cost.

My husband and I took three of our children (we have four children) who were all under the age of 11, and the price to get in and get bracelets for the kids was $106. We bought the advance bracelets at Sobeys to keep the price down.

My son, who is three years old, was only allowed on three rides due to his size. The rest of the rides he needed an adult on with him, but I did not buy a bracelet for myself due to only having $110 in total to spend. So I paid full price for his bracelet and he was not allowed on most of the children’s rides. He left very disappointed and so did I.

Please if the person(s) running the ex read this, here are a few suggestions in the future:

• Reduce the entrance fee. Please think of a family rate and seniors rate. Twelve dollars for a person over the age of 14 is way too much!

• Have a bracelet fee for all rides and one for the small children’s rides.

• Allow a parent on the little kid rides without a bracelet (believe me, I do not get any joy out of the spinning bears, but my kids do love them).

I understand the ex has to make money as nothing is free and I have no problem paying a fee but this is the Hants County Exhibition, not Disneyland.
