White Rock Rockies hosting softball fastpitch tournament


ST. CROIX – Seven teams will attempt to win the Shooters Restaurant and Lounge Softball Fastpitch League Championship title this weekend.

The tournament started on Aug. 25 and will run on the evening of Aug. 26 and throughout the day on Aug. 27.

The host team, the White Rock Rockies, finished in second place in the league standings for 2016. They opened the tournament with a 8-0 win over the Shubenacadie Charros Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.

Other games played Aug. 25 were between the Indian Brook Hawkeyes and Brookfield Elks; Truro Murphy’s Fish and Chips versus East Hants Expos, and the Halifax Pepper Jacks versus the winner of the Hawkeyes/Elks game.

Four more games will be played the evening of Aug. 26, with two games on each diamond. The Rockies will be back in action at 7 p.m.

Games on Aug. 27 are scheduled for 9 a.m. with action on both diamonds followed by a single game at 11:00 a.m. and the championship game at 1 p.m.
