BROOKLYN, N.S. - The Atom AA West Hants Warriors are on a hot streak, coming out on top from two conference championships.

During the Mainland Championship, played in Liverpool on March 25, West Hants defeated the Pictou Red 7-3.

Multiple players got on the score sheet, but the team was lead offensively by William Shields, who had two goals and three assists. The first goal for Shields marked his 100th for the year.

The South Conference Championship in Brooklyn on March 26 saw West Hants win 3-2 against TASA Black, who were the champions from the CMHF/Halifax league.

Porter Crowell scored a hat-trick and his twin brother, Chase Crowell, performed well in nets according to team manager Chris Shields.

The team was down 2-1 going into the third period as TASA had scored two power-play goals. The Warriors hung on, battling back to score two goals in the last three minutes of the game.

The victory against TASA Black has propelled the West Hants Atom AA Warriors onto the provincial final for the second straight year, despite only having five returning players in their line up from last year’s team.

The provincial championship final will be played as part of Hockey Nova Scotia’s Day of Champions on April 7 in Bridgewater at 5 p.m.

The Warriors will take on the Glace Bay Miners.
