WEST HANTS, N.S. - It was a nail-biter, but in the end, the West Hants Atom B Warriors came out on top against the Queens County Cougars to win the league championship.

The Warriors travelled to Liverpool on March 25 to play the Cougars for the Western Nova Minor Hockey League Atom B title.

While Queens was up 3-0 early in the second period, the Warriors rallied - by the end of the second, it was 6-4 for Queens.

But the third period belonged to the Warriors, and they tied it up with about 10 minutes left in the game. They got the go-ahead goal with only four minutes left.

Two minutes remained and a penalty against the Warriors was called - seizing the opportunity the Cougars pulled their goalie for a two-man advantage, but the Warriors held on.

As the buzzer went, the Warriors celebrated their come-from-behind 7-6 victory, league championship and gold medal.

This wraps up an incredible season for the Atom B team, winning silver at the Acadia tournament in December (Bedford Blue won gold), having a perfect 16-0 regular season, winning gold at the Birthplace of hockey tournament in March and clinching the League title on March 25.

The only blemish on their season was a 4-3 loss to Queens in the deciding game of a best of 3 in the provincial playdowns.
