WINDSOR, N.S. – A bit late due to weather, but still much appreciated.

Over 80 grade nine students from Avon View High School, cheered along by leadership students, raised money for cancer research during their Terry Fox Run as they made their way through town on Oct. 4.

Karen Nottage, French teacher at the school, said AVHS is proud to play a role in keeping Terry Fox’s legacy going.

“Students in grade 9 have had the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the heroic efforts of Terry over the past few weeks as well as raise much-needed funds for cancer research,” Nottage said. “Through our participation in the Terry Fox School Run, we hope to encourage leadership in our students and create positive agents of change in our wonderful school community.”

Although the total isn’t known yet, Nottage said they’re hoping to beat last year’s fundraising total of $1,782.
