Avon River Days offers up fun activities for families

WINDSOR, N.S. — The hot, humid weather may have kept some people away from the start of the 2018 Avon River Days celebration but the festival is well underway.

Held Aug. 3-5, 2018, the annual event has something to appeal to all ages.

The event kicked off Aug. 3 with a downtown merchants sidewalk sale, a wet and wild pool party and family fun day, plus live music downtown.

On Aug. 4, festival goers were treated to a Windsor and District Lions Club breakfast, a grand street parade, a swim with Halifax Mermaids at the Hants Aquatic Centre, plus fun at the waterfront. There were a number of live bands playing in various business establishments, plus at the waterfront.

A very special Windsor Regional High School Reunion also took place.

Among the highlights planned for Aug. 5 is the fourth annual tractor pull at the Hants County Exhibition Park (this starts at 10 a.m.), the annual car show along the waterfront (this runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) a tea fundraiser at the West Hants Historical Society's museum from 2-3:30 p.m., plus various kid-friendly activities at the waterfront leading up to the fireworks at dusk.
