Manchester City midfielder Rodri was named the Champions League player of the season by UEFA on Sunday after an outstanding 2022-23 campaign.

The 26-year-old Spain international scored the winner as Inter beat Inter Milan 1-0 in Saturday’s final to lift the trophy for the first time.

Rodri scored two goals in all but one of City’s Champions League matches. In the final, he put up a brilliant performance and was awarded the man of the match award. Seven of the 11 places in the squad of the season went to Manchester City players.

Napoli’s Kwicha Kvaratskelia has been named Champions League Young Player of the Year, capping off a remarkable campaign for the 22-year-old Georgian.

Kvartskelia won the Serie A title with Napoli and was also named the league’s MVP earlier this month.
