In a statement, the FBI said, “We are reviewing an agent-involved shooting that occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 3. While under arrest, Roy McGrath was injured and taken to the hospital. The FBI takes all shootings involving agents or members of our task force seriously. McGrath, 53, of Naples, Florida, became the subject of a nationwide manhunt after he failed to appear in federal court in Baltimore on March 13. McGrath’s attorney, Joseph Murtha, told 11 News he could not comment until Monday evening. Federal prosecutors said McGrath misled officials at the Maryland Environmental Service, where he served as executive director, to support former Gov. Larry Hogan cutting $233,000 to become Hogan’s chief of staff. Hogan denied the severance, and McGrath stepped down as head coach in August 2020. The FBI and US Marshals Office offered rewards of up to $20,000 for information leading to his arrest. McGrath was indicted on October 5, 2021. Allegations of wire fraud and theft or bribery.
