Local businesses now have a venue in which to come together and share ideas.

Every month, Speedpro Signs and Imaging is hosting Sip Chat Connect, a morning get-together in Windsor to help professionals network.

Charlie Aubie, the general manager of Speedpro Signs and Imaging, says the company is hosting the meet-and-mingle sessions as a way to connect business professionals with others.

“The purpose behind it is not only to generate business leads but also to connect and share ideas as a business community,” said Aubie.

The first networking opportunity was held near the end of February at T.A.N. Coffee on Water Street.  The room was crowded with people. There were a variety of owners and managers present representing a vast array of services — everything from human resources to trades and finance.

“In the business world, marketing is very important and how you market is very important. This, in conjunction with social media, is a very powerful force,” said Aubie.

“To me, you spend a lot of time on social media but you've got to put a face on things. That's still important today and it's evident today that people want to do this so there is a need for this kind of networking.”

Aubie said similar monthly meetings are also held in Bedford and Kentville. At each meeting, those in attendance are invited to attend the neighbouring meetings, which Aubie says, helps to broaden and strengthen the networking circle.

“It's about sharing ideas. This is just a connection point. From here on, they can easily say 'let's schedule a meeting and talk in more detail about your business,'” said Aubie.

Windsor's meetings will be held at T.A.N Coffee on the last Thursday of the month from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

“When people get together like this, everyone achieves more,” said Aubie.
