Many museums in Western Nova Scotia have special exhibitions this summer related to the Planters.

The Kings County Museum in Kentville is showing “Planter Generations: The Cultural Legacy” throughout the 2010 season, with artifacts and documents from the Planters of Horton, Cornwallis and Aylesford Townships.

The museum also houses Parks Canada’s permanent exhibit and a 30-minute film on the New England Planters.

The museum offers a unique New England Planter ancestor registry service that can authenticate a Planter genealogy ($50 fee). Participants will receive a certificate to recognize their ancestry.

Randall House Museum in Wolfville opens June 15 with “The New England Planters in Horton Township.” Admission is $2.

The Fieldwood Heritage Centre in Canning will display divisions and farm lots from the eastern section of Cornwallis Township in 1760, Planter artifacts of the period and a listing of the early homes in the area.
