Swinamer’s TIM-BR Mart has a new name and look after becoming a member of the Home Hardware family.

Owner Brian MacDonald says little will change at the familiar TIM-BR Mart, located at 4060 Hwy 1 in Currys Corner, aside from the look and name. The building supplies carrier, founded in 1954, is now called Swinamer’s Home Building Centre.

MacDonald says accepting the Home Hardware brand creates better opportunities for marketing, and greater product availability.

“The brand name is so much stronger,” he said in a phone interview.

Home Hardware Stores Limited is the largest independently-owned hardware, lumber, building materials and furniture co-operative in Canada.

MacDonald expects the transformation of the former TIM-BR Mart will take about two years.

“Like our customers, we love to build and renovate, so we’re looking forward to unveiling a new look and new products for homeowners and professional contractors in the Hants West area,” MacDonald said in a Dec. 21 press release.

Nearby Windsor Home Hardware and Home Furniture owner Jeff Redden is supportive of MacDonald’s adoption of the Home Hardware brand.

“This will deliver the Home Building Centre lumber and building material products to both retail and professional customers in the Windsor area,” he said in the release.

“We look forward to working with Swinamer’s Home Building Centre in the future to bring the very best in service, price and selection to our respective customer base.”
