Erdeena Sanford

SANFORD, Erdeena Hope ~ age 89 of Kentville, NS passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in South Waterville, the daughter of the late Percy and Ella Eugenie (Crocker) Foster, she was the youngest of seven children. Erdeena worked in Kentville in her early years at Maritime Tel & Tel as an operator, but her passion was dancing. She met Ralph (R.J.) Sanford at a dance and as she said “That was it!” However, that wasn’t the end of her dancing or her independent streak. She tried waterskiing at 50 years old, took up curling after the age 65 and loved a good game of bridge. Erdeena volunteered many hours at the UCW, Girl Guides of Canada and many other causes. She adopted a son, Tim when he was two. She wasn’t the shy and retiring type. One could definitely hear her cheering at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Her wonderful spirit lives on in her son Stephen (Karen) Sanford, Houston, Texas; her daughter Barbara (Donald) Woodworth, Middleton, NS and her grandchildren Katelyn Woodworth, Calgary, AB; Scott (Melissa) Sanford, Los Angeles, CA; Greg (Tara) Sanford, San Francisco, CA; Brent Woodworth, Halifax, NS and Stephen Woodworth, Middleton and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her sisters Anita Potter and Mazie Bligh both of Berwick NS. Erdeena was predeceased by her husband Ralph; son Timothy; infant daughter Beth Eugenie; sisters Betty Lloyd, Joyce Durno and Shirley Smith and her brother George Foster. In keeping with Erdeena’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Service details will be announced at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Parkinson Society Maritime Region, the Canadian Down Syndrome Society or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448. An online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
