Virginia officials warn of possible measles outbreak at Dulles, Reagan airports – NBC4 Washington

If you were at Dulles International Airport or Reagan Washington National Airport earlier this month, you may have been exposed to someone with measles.

A person with measles was at two airports on two dates after returning from international travel, Virginia Department of Health officials said Saturday. Expression is linked to two places and times:

  • Dulles, Main Terminal International Arrivals Area, January 3rd, 4th to 8th
  • Reagan Washington, Terminal A, January 4, 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Health officials are working to identify the exposed individuals, including those who traveled on specific flights, the department said in a statement.

Measles is highly contagious but is preventable through vaccination. Symptoms include fever, runny nose, watery eyes, cough and rash.

If you haven't been vaccinated against measles and may have been exposed, you should watch for possible symptoms, health officials said.

“Anyone at risk of exposure to measles should watch for symptoms by January 25, 2024. If you have symptoms of measles, stay home and isolate yourself and stay away from others. Contact your healthcare provider right away. Call Ahead Before going to your healthcare provider's office or emergency room, “Inform them that you may have measles and call the health department. This will help protect other patients and staff,” a statement said.
